In response to a shifting landscape, we’ve observed a growing trend among smaller academy trusts seeking to merge with larger, established Multi Academy Trusts (MATs). In August 2023, Gail Khan Associates was approached by one such larger MAT to conduct due diligence on a group of four schools that had expressed interest in a MAT merger.

Led by Project Manager Michelle Phillips, our team of seasoned experts in finance, HR, Health and Safety, and IT collaborated diligently to review the information provided by the schools. This effort resulted in a comprehensive report, including an Executive Summary, which was presented to the Board of Trustees for approval in December 2023.

Empowered with a thorough understanding of the facts and risks, the Board made an informed decision, and we are pleased to announce their commitment to advancing to the next stage. Pending approval from the Advisory Board, these schools are anticipated to join the trust later this year.
