1st December marked a major milestone for the newly formed Heritage Multi-Academy Trust as Reinwood Infant & Nursery School and Reinwood Junior School officially joined the Trust. Their transfer completes a two-year journey to bring together six local Kirklees based schools, with a long-standing culture of collaboration and shared ambition for children and young people.
This group of schools is already deeply connected through years of joint working, shared practice and aligned values. They began exploring formal partnership options in 2022 and together, they identified that forming a new MAT would provide the strongest platform for delivering their collective vision: to create nurturing environments where learners are inspired, supported, and challenged to achieve academic excellence, develop strong character, and grow.
After gaining AB approval in October 2024, the Trust team has worked steadily to progress each school through the conversion process. With Reinwood Infant & Nursery School and Reinwood Junior School now joining, they complete the group of six founding schools, which also includes Spring Grove Junior, Infant & Nursery School, Moorlands Primary School, Salendine Nook High School, and Lindley Junior School. All six founding schools have now officially transferred into Heritage MAT within the planned timeframe.
Heritage MAT was also among the final group of trusts nationally to receive TEG (Trust Establishment Grant) funding, which played an important role in supporting the journey from concept to establishment.
