Solent Academies Trust’s new special school, Luminous Oak Academy, reached a major milestone in its development recently when it celebrated a symbolic steel frame-signing ceremony at its construction site in Eastleigh, Hampshire.

The event saw attendees sign a structural steel frame that will remain part of the building – serving as a lasting symbol of Hampshire County Council and Solent Academies Trust’s commitment to inclusive education and opportunity for all.

GKA are project managing the delivery of the new school for Solent Academies Trust, working closely with Hampshire County Council, who have commissioned the new school, and Tilbury Douglas, who are constructing the Luminous Oak Academy.

Luminous Oak Academy will support children aged eight to 16 years with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Opening in 2026, the school will provide 125 places and feature purpose-built classrooms, sensory spaces, therapy rooms, and outdoor learning areas. The design has been shaped in consultation with special education needs experts to ensure it meets the diverse needs of its future pupils.

As a trusted partner of Solent Academies Trust, GKA are delighted to be project managing the new school.
